The Rustic Road Show

Peter Mires Headshot

With my book Lake Tahoe’s Rustic Architecture coming out this summer (July 18, 2016), I’m beginning to line up a few appearances. Here’s the schedule so far:

Yosemite!

049I had an awesome time in the Yosemite Valley last week (April 25-29, 2016). My sister Amy, her husband Gerry, and their daughter Abby flew out from New Hampshire.  We spent most of the time outdoors–you don’t go to Yosemite National Park just to sit in the lodge and drink Peet’s coffee, although that’s good too–hiking the trails (Mist, Four Mile, and Mirror Lake), viewing the waterfalls (Vernal, Nevada, Yosemite, and Bridalveil), which had incredible volume given the snowpack in the Sierra this winter, and generally walking in the footsteps of John Muir and Ansel Adams.  As a fitting conclusion to our Yosemite adventure, we spent the morning of National Arbor Day (Friday 4/29/16) in Tuolumne Grove among the Giant Sequoias.
